Volunteers Dave And Melanie Weiss, PTs

Dave and Melanie Weiss are husband and wife physicial therapists and recently spent time volunteering at Hopital Adventiste d'Haiti with the team from Ukiah Valley Medical Center.  They started a blog about their adventure with the first post beginning here
When we first heard about the need for physical therapists in Haiti, we were immediately interested, however, the realities of being off work for two weeks, buying a plane ticket and all of the other supplies that are necessary for a trip like this, all the while paying our ever present student loans on  such short notice seemed like it would be a complete impossibility. Well, we can see once again, that when God wants you to do something, he makes it happen if you have a willing heart. We are humbled to have the opportunity to serve the people of Haiti in Port-au-Prince representing first of all God, and secondly, everyone else who had a hand in making this trip happen.
And finally an excerpt from a departing post:
As we climbed into the little bus one last time and started driving down towards the gate, a lot of thoughts were going through our head. There is so much need in Haiti, and while we feel like we were only able to put 1 drop in a bucket, by our being there, it was at least 1 drop, and we hope that with many others continuing to volunteer and come down here, those drops will continue to multiply. That is all that we can do, and I think that is all that God asks us to do. We have to do the best that we can with what we have. As we left it was easy to think, if I had only done this, if I had only done that, etc, etc, etc, I could have made a bigger difference here. The problem with that “if I” sentiment as I reflect back on it is that “I” can really do nothing without God. Like I mentioned yesterday, the only one that can really watch over all of the people in Haiti is God.
